3. Northern project: This project should almost be done by now.  We'll have time in the computer lab today and Friday, but with our busy Christmas concert schedule that's about all the time we'll have.  Please remember that some of the work needs to be completed at home.

Parents: Are there any parents (or grandparents!) interested in helping out with our baking centres?  We will be doing them tomorrow at 11:15 to 12:00, and Monday at the same time.  If you're interested and able, please contact me at jxgalle@edu.pe.ca or send a note in with your child.

First of all, a few congratulations are due to our fellow students.  Congratulations to Andrew for winning a medal of excellence in Piano.  He received the highest mark in PEI for his age group!  Also, congratulations to Tyler and his basketball team. They won second place in the Sussex tournament!

Note to parents, guardians and grandparents:  Tomorrow at 3:30 I will be having a meeting in my class with people who are interested in volunteering with PEI Volunteers for Literacy. 3. French - make sure you finish your sheet on visualisation (in your carnet de lecture) on Zamboni.

Monday's homework

1. Read in English for 20 minuutes
2. Mental math for 10 minutes: this is a new homework, and will be different for each student.  First of all, those students who have not yet memorized their multiplication tables should do so.  For those who have memorized it, they can work on simple mental math problems.  Here are some examples:

5 x 25, 10 x 45; 11 x 45, 4 x 45; 6 x 12, etc, etc.

This should be done mentally, without pencil or paper.

A few things to remember

This Monday we will be doing our spelling quiz.  You are responsible for the definitions as well as the proper spelling!

Our Harry Potter Party is this Monday.  Wear your costumes!  I'll bring some treats, but you are welcome to bring some as well (although you certainly don't have to).

On Friday we are having our quiz in Sciences Humaines.  You are responsible for knowing the provinces, territories and their capitals!  In French! 

Any parents who would like to email me with their ideal interview times are welcome to do so!

A great website for multiplication

This site does require some downloading, but it's worth it!  It's a multiplication (or any other operation) site that plays like a video game.  I put it on the side in our links, but I thought it would be worthwhile to include it in it's very own post.

As usual, read in French for 20 minutes.  This time, when you are finished reading, I would like you to write up a quick summary of what you have read this week.  Talk about any new facts you have learned, what you liked or didn't like about your reading, and anything else you think I should know.

2. Math: We're working in the book tonight.  Page 51, #4 and #7 (a only!)  We are starting to practice estimating - this is what we'll be doing for the rest of the unit.  Send me an email if you have any questions!
